Emeka Ihedioha was born on July 24, 1965, in Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He hails from a respected family within the Mbaise community, known for its emphasis on education and public service. Career

Emeka Ihedioha's career began in the private sector, where he gained valuable experience in business and finance. However, his passion for public service soon drew him into the political arena. His early foray into national politics saw him serve as a Special Assistant to the Presidential Adviser on Utilities in 1992. Following this, he took on the role of Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from 1992 to 1993, during a pivotal period in Nigeria's political transition. With the return to democratic rule in 1999, Ihedioha joined the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, serving in various capacities. He was Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President from 1999 to 2001, then Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Vice President from 1999 to 2001, and subsequently Special Assistant on General Duties to the Vice President from 2001 to 2003. In 2003, Emeka Ihedioha successfully contested and was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives, representing the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency of Imo State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was re-elected for three subsequent terms, serving an impressive twelve years in the lower chamber of the National Assembly until 2015.
