His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, was born on October 17, 1974, into the Giesi Ruling House, Ojaja II lineage, in Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. He is the third son in a family of six children of Prince Ropo Ogunwusi and the late Madam Wuraola Ogunwusi. His paternal grandfather was Pa Joseph Olagbaju Ogunwusi, and his paternal grandmother was Madam Comfort Omowande Ogunwusi. The Giesi Ruling House is one of the four recognized ruling houses entitled to the stool of the Ooni of Ife, tracing its ancestry directly to Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba race.
