Early Life and Background

Martin Nwancho Elechi was born on April 6, 1941, in Alike, Ikwo, which was then part of the Ishielu Local Government Area in the Eastern Region of Nigeria. This area is now situated within the present-day Ebonyi State. Martin Elechi is married to Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Josephine Elechi, who served as the First Lady of Ebonyi State during his governorship.
